The next meeting of the Committee for Communities will take place at 10am on 22 May 2025 at the Public Record Office Northern Ireland (PRONI). An audio recording of the meeting will be broadcast on the Assembly website shortly after the meeting.

Sign Language Bill
As part of the Assembly’s legislative processes, the Sign Language Bill has been referred to the Committee for Communities so that the Committee can consider and take evidence on the Bill and report its opinion to the Assembly.
The Committee launched a consultation to seek views from stakeholders on the objectives, proposals and potential consequences of the Bill. The consultation and accompanying survey closed on Friday 9 May 2025.
The Committee will now consider the responses, while continuing to scrutinise the Bill and form a report.
