Committee stage – Charities (Amendment) Bill
The Charities (Amendment) Bill was introduced by the Minister for Communities on 15 June 2026. The Bill completed its Second Stage on 23 June 2026.
The purpose of the Bill is to amend the Charities Act (Northern Ireland) 2008 in regards to regulatory powers, reporting requirements and governance arrangements.

As part of the Assembly’s legislative processes, the Bill has been referred to the Assembly’s Committee for Communities so that the Committee can consider and take evidence on the Bill and report its opinion to the Assembly.
Call for Evidence
As part of the Committee Stage, the Committee will seek views from stakeholders on the objectives, draft Bill proposals and any potential consequences of the Bill.
