Committee Stresses Need for Sustainable Drainage to Stop Flooding

The Assembly Committee for Regional Development visited three sites today to see, at first-hand, a number of projects aimed at alleviating flooding. The sites, developed by Transport NI and NI Water, were at College Park Avenue in Belfast; Green Road, Conlig; and Carrowreagh in Dundonald.

The Public Accounts Committee, which has published its report today into the now defunct Northern Ireland Events Company (NIEC), has highlighted the appalling level of mismanagement and impropriety which led to a financial deficit of approximately £1.6 million.

Speaker McLaughlin recognises role of Royal British Legion

Mitchel McLaughlin MLA, Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, tonight held a reception in Parliament Buildings for the Royal British Legion. The reception was attended by around 150 members of the Legion and MLAs.

Committee highlights opportunities for collaboration and innovation in the justice system

The Committee for Justice today will debate its report on Justice in the 21st Century in the Assembly. The report was the outcome of a 12 month programme of engagement and collaboration with the criminal justice sector, including the judiciary, legal profession and voluntary and community organisations.
