Committee slams Department's funding approval process

The Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for Employment and Learning has slammed the Department’s process for approving European Social Fund (ESF) monies to community and voluntary groups.

Local Pig Farmers Deserve Fair Return For Their Product Says Committee

The Assembly Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development received a briefing from the Ulster Farmers Union (UFU) at this week’s meeting on the growing pig price differential between Northern Ireland and Great Britain and the financial strain this is placing on local pig farmers.

Local students challenge politicians to 'talk politics'

Following on from a series of successful 'Let's Talk Politics' events aimed at young people, sixth form students from schools in East, North and South Antrim, and East Londonderry constituencies will take up the challenge to quiz their local political representatives on the issues that matter to them and their local communities.

Education Committee Backs Digital Action Plan in Schools

The Committee for Education today called for primary and post-primary pupils to be given better access to the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) parts of the curriculum, particularly with respect to learning computer coding. Their call came as the Committee continued its review of STEM subjects in schools.

The Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee is calling for urgent reform of the system for collecting financial penalties in a Report published today.

Assembly Committee calls for assurance measures on Executive's Budget 2015-16

The Committee for Finance and Personnel has launched its report on the Northern Ireland Executive’s proposed budget for 2015-16. The report, which the Committee co-ordinates on behalf of all the Assembly scrutiny committees, identifies specific actions that the Executive could take when implementing the 2015-16 budget.

Committee Calls for BT to Make RTE Catch-Up Service Available in Northern Ireland

The Enterprise, Trade and Investment Committee has called on British Telecom (BT) to make the RTÉ Player available to their broadband customers in Northern Ireland.

Chair Denounces Increases as "Unfare"

Chair to the Committee for Regional Development has denounced Translink and the Department for Regional Development for the 5% increase to bus and rail fares announced this evening.
