The next meeting of the Committee for Health is scheduled for Thursday 06 November 2025. NI Human Rights Commission will brief the Committee on Adult Protection Bill. Members will also receive an update from the Mental Health Champion. The meeting will start at 2pm in room 29, Parliament Buildings and will be broadcast on our website.

Adult Protection Bill

The Adult Protection Bill was formally introduced by the Minister of Health on Tuesday 17 June 2025. The Bill completed its Second Stage on Monday 30 June 2025 and is now referred to the Committee for Health for the Committee Stage of the Bill.

As part of the Committee Stage, the Committee will now receive oral evidence on the objectives, proposals and potential consequences of the Bill.

Committee Inquiry: Access to Palliative Care Services

The Committee is undertaking an inquiry into accessing palliative care services in Northern Ireland.

As part of the inquiry the Commitee gathered the views of those patients and their families, healthcare organisations and professionals on their experience of accessing palliative care across Northern Ireland.

The Committee has concluded its inquiry sessions and is now compiling the evidence gathered.
