I am writing to confirm that the Northern Ireland Assembly Commission (Assembly Commission) has processed your request dated 21 January 2026 in line with the Freedom of Information Act 2000. Your request was as follows:
“..I request the following information:
1.Menu Availability: Does the Assembly canteen/restaurant (including the Members' Dining Room) currently serve salmon or sea trout?
2. Sourcing Method: For any salmon or sea trout served, is the fish classified as farmed or wild-caught?
3. Procurement Details: If the fish is wild-caught, please specify the method of capture (e.g., line-caught, netting) and the geographic region it is sourced from.”
Our response
The Assembly Commission holds information in relation to this request.
Question 1
Salmon is currently served as part of the afternoon-tea menu offer which is available to the public in the Members’ Dining Room.
Question 2
The supplier has indicated that the fish is classified as farmed.
Question 3
As indicated in the response to question 2, the fish is classified as farmed.
