I am writing to confirm that the Northern Ireland Assembly Commission (Assembly Commission) has processed your request dated 11 December 2025 in line with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). In your request, you asked:
“How much did it cost to run the recruitment campaign to appointment of Mr McEwan as the Northern Ireland Assembly Commissioner. The costs should include any agency fees, marketing costs, interview costs etc., but these costs do not need to be broken down, only the total campaign costs are required.”
Our response
The Assembly Commission holds information in relation to your request.
The total cost of the recruitment campaign for the Northern Ireland Assembly Commissioner for Standards, which was advertised in June 2025, was £2,780.
The recruitment campaign resulted in the appointment of Mr McEwan and when he resigned from the role, the appointment of Mr Wright.
