I am writing to confirm that the Northern Ireland Assembly Commission (Assembly Commission) has processed your request dated 13 February 2024 in line with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). In this request, which I have numbered for ease of reference, you asked for the following information:

“I am seeking the following information under the Freedom of Information Act:

(i) The number of staff in post at each Assembly grade

(ii) The number of those staff which are substantive and agency per grade

(iii) The number of vacancies at each Assembly grade

(iv) The current pay scales for each Assembly grade.”

The Assembly Commission holds the following information relevant to your request.

• A breakdown of Assembly Commission Staff, Agency Workers and Vacancy Figures as at 01 January 2024 is at Appendix A.
• A breakdown of current Assembly Commission Salary Scales by Grade is at Appendix B.

If after such an internal review you are still unhappy with the response, you may appeal to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF which will undertake an independent review. 

Your request for information and our response may be published in the disclosure log maintained by the Assembly Commission under a publication scheme agreed with the ICO. The request and our response will be anonymised.
