I am writing to confirm that the Northern Ireland Assembly Commission (Assembly Commission) has processed your request dated 23 October 2024 in line with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). In your request, you asked:
'Please provide details of:
- the total resource and capital cost to the Northern Ireland Assembly of implementing the NI Protocol/Windsor Framework in 2024-25;
- please provide a breakdown or analysis of the cost; and
- total funding allocated in relation to these costs.'
Our response
The Assembly holds information in relation to your request.
The anticipated cost of the Windsor Framework Democratic Scrutiny Committee (WFDSC) for 2024-25 is £995,801 made up of £791,801 for staffing costs and £204,000 for administration costs. No capital costs are anticipated. The costs of the WFDSC are separately funded by His Majesty's Treasury.
