I am writing to confirm that the Northern Ireland Assembly Commission (Assembly Commission) has processed your request dated 8 May 2024 in line with the Freedom of Information Act 2000. In your request, you asked:
“I request the following information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000:
A copy of all the most recent information held by the assembly concerning any euthanasia, assisted death, or suicide legislation currently being debated as a bill, if such a current bill exists, between the dates of 8/5/2023 - 8/5/2024 respectively.”
Our response
The Northern Ireland Assembly did not debate any legislation during the period 8/5/2023 – 2/2/2024.
Since resumption of normal Assembly business on 3/2/24 up to and including 8/5/2024, the Northern Ireland Assembly has not debated any bill concerning “euthanasia, assisted death, or suicide legislation”. No information is therefore held.
Your request for information and our response may be published in the disclosure log maintained by the Assembly Commission under a publication scheme agreed with the ICO. The request and our response will be anonymised.
