Committee Welcomes Decrease in Water charges

The Committee for Regional Development has today welcomed a decision by NI Water to reduce water and sewerage charges for non-domestic customers. 

Speaking after today’s announcement, Committee Chairperson Jimmy Spratt MLA said: “The Committee very much welcomes today’s announcement by Northern Ireland Water, particularly as this will be the second year running that charges for non-domestic customers have been reduced. 

“The decrease in charges is a very positive example of the efficiencies that NI Water have managed to achieve in recent years. The fact that this has resulted in an average 4% reduction in costs to local businesses is very encouraging.  

Mr Spratt concluded:  “We congratulate NI Water on their successes to date, successes that are being shared with their customers, and would encourage them to continue working towards and attaining the efficiency savings set by the Utility Regulator.”
