The Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for Regional Development has today congratulated Road Service staff for the way road closures were handled during the three days of Giro d'Italia action.

Speaking earlier, the Chair to the Committee, Mr Jimmy Spratt MLA, stated: "This weekend witnessed the tremendous spectacle of the Giro d'Italia on the roads of Northern Ireland, something which would not have been possible without the hard work and professionalism shown by Road Service staff. Everything was done to keep disruption to a minimum and this was borne out by the huge crowds lining the routes during the three days."

Mr Spratt concluded: "I would like to offer our congratulations to everyone involved in making this weekend such a success."
