Committee Welcomes Reinstatement of Arts Funding

The Assembly Committee for Social Development has today welcomed the decision to reinstate funding to the Laganside Events Grant Scheme.

Speaking on behalf of the Committee, Chairperson Alex Maskey MLA said: “We are pleased that the Minister has taken steps to reinstate funding through the Laganside Events Grants Scheme.

“Committee Members recognise the important role that the arts sector plays in contributing to town centre regeneration and in enhancing opportunities for greater social inclusion.

“At our meeting next week we intend to hear directly from the Minister and stakeholders on this issue and we hope that this meeting will provide the opportunity for clear dialogue and a more positive way forward.”
