Tree Planting Ceremony to be held at Parliament Buildings to mark Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

A tree planting ceremony will be held in the grounds of Parliament Buildings today, Monday, 14 March 2022 to mark Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Today’s ceremony is a key part of a wider event to celebrate Commonwealth Day 2022.

Tree Planting Ceremony and Commonwealth Day Event Programme:

13:00: Opening address by Chairman of the Northern Ireland Assembly CPA Branch, William Humphrey MBE MLA.

13:05: Address by Robbie Butler MLA on behalf of the Assembly Commission. 

13:15: Tree planted by Members of the CPA Executive Committee and the Assembly Commission (planting site faces the upper east side of Parliament Buildings).

13:30: Commonwealth Day Reception, Members’ Dining Room.  

Media Opportunities: Media are invited to attend the Tree Planting Ceremony and the Commonwealth Day Event. Filming/photography opportunities will be available and please note that a dedicated press area will be set up at the upper east side of Parliament Buildings.
