Sign Language Bill - Committee for Communities

Transcript of WhatsApp Quick Guide video

The Committee for Communities is using WhatsApp to receive video evidence in BSL and ISL about the Sign Language Bill. The WhatsApp survey is a sign language version of the written English questionnaire with the same questions and format to go through the main clauses of the Bill. The first few questions are quick text answers about you and clicks to confirm your consent.

The consent questions are to make sure you have read the Committee Privacy Policy and agree for the Committee to use your views. We will ask you to confirm that we can publish your response. For this Bill, it is important to note that your videos will not be published, just a written transcript.

We ask if you consent to your whole response being published or if you want your data, such as your name, redacted. After these questions, you will then get an option to choose BSL or ISL for the rest of the survey. The videos you upload can be a maximum of three minutes each.

The pattern is a yes-no response and then we will ask for details to support your answer. If you have nothing to add, please just sign a quick no comment video to allow you to move on to the next video. Once you start the questionnaire, you will have 24 hours to complete the survey.

It's best not to use the same phone number for more than one response, so where possible, use your own phone. You will receive a thank you message about 15 minutes after the last question.
