The Deputy Chairperson, Kellie Armstrong, assumed the Chair. The meeting began at 9.06 am in closed session to allow Members to discuss the focus of questioning. The meeting went into open session at 9.11 am. The following Members were present at the start of the open session: Paula Bradley (Chairperson), Kellie Armstrong (Deputy Chairperson), Andy Allen, Stephen Dunne, Áine Murphy, Aisling Reilly.

There were no apologies.

2. Minutes

Agreed: The Committee agreed the minutes of the meeting held on Tuesday 30 November 2021.

Paul Frew joined the meeting at 9.11 am

3. Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) briefing on the Betting, Gaming, Lotteries and Amusements (Amendment) Bill

Mark Durkan joined the meeting at 9.19 am

Ciara Ferguson joined the meeting at 9.24 am

The following representatives joined the meeting:

  • Brian McAvoy
  • Brian Mallon
  • Diarmaid Marsden

The representatives from the GAA briefed the Committee and participated in a question and answer session with Members.

The Chairperson thanked the representatives for their attendance.

4. Irish Football Association (IFA) briefing on the Betting, Gaming, Lotteries and Amusements (Amendment) Bill

The following representatives joined the meeting:

  • Patrick Nelson
  • Sean Murphy

The representatives from the IFA briefed the Committee and participated in a question and answer session with Members.

The Chairperson thanked the representatives for their attendance.

Andy Allen left the meeting at 10.04 am

Áine Murphy left the meeting at 10.05 am

5. NI Sports Forum briefing on the Betting, Gaming, Lotteries and Amusements (Amendment) Bill

The following representative joined the meeting:

  • Ciaran Kearney

The representative from the NI Sports Forum briefed the Committee and participated in a question and answer with Members.

The Chairperson thanked the representative for his attendance.

6. Date, time and location of next meeting

The next meeting will be held on Thursday 9 December 2021 in Room 29, Parliament Buildings, at 9.00 am.

The meeting was adjourned at 10.26 am.
