Committee Review to Focus on Better Regulation for Farmers

The Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development has launched an Inquiry into ‘Better Regulation’. The Committee will examine the current regulatory framework within the agricultural industry and seek ways to reduce the administrative and regulatory burden on farmers.

The Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development held its weekly meeting in Cookstown today, where Members discussed the Department’s response to its recent position paper on the review of the “Tackling Rural Poverty and Social Inclusion (TRPSI) Framework”.

Speaker to participate in event to mark Battle of Messines

The Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, Mitchel McLaughlin, has accepted an invitation to participate in an event at the Cenotaph in Derry/ Londonderry on Sunday 7th June to commemorate the 98th anniversary of the Battle of Messines. The parade is organised by the International School for Peace Studies.

Assembly Commission Agrees To Implement Recommendations For Flying The Union Flag From Parliament Buildings

The Northern Ireland Assembly Commission agreed by majority that it would implement the recommendations contained in the Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) review of the policy of flying the Union flag on Parliament Buildings.

Assembly agree new Code of Conduct

The Northern Ireland Assembly today agreed a new Code of Conduct for Members and Guide to the Rules. The new Code and Guide were brought to the Assembly by the Committee on Standards and Privileges and follows a Committee Review into the Code.
