I am writing to confirm that the Northern Ireland Assembly Commission (Assembly Commission) has processed your request dated 5 June 2026 in line with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA). In your request, you asked:

‘…I wish to request the following information.

It is claimed that MLAs and their staff have been allowed to charge electric cars at no cost to them using terminals at Parliament Buildings.

1. Are staff employed by the Assembly Commission allowed to use this facility without cost?

2. If so, is this available to all Commission staff?

3. If not, to what staff is this facility available?

4. Please provide a copy of any relevant submission(s) to the Commission in relation to Commission staff having use of the facility.’

Our response

1. Are staff employed by the Assembly Commission allowed to use this facility without cost?

Assembly Commission staff are permitted to use the facility without cost.

2.    If so, is this available to all Commission staff?

This provision applies to all Assembly Commission staff.

3.    If not, to what staff is this facility available?

This does not apply, as the facility is available to all Assembly Commission staff.

4.   Please provide a copy of any relevant submission(s) to the Commission in relation to Commission staff having use of the facility.

No relevant submissions were made to the Commission in relation to Commission staff using this facility.
