6. Private Members' Business

6.1 Motion: Crisis in Wastewater and Sewerage Capacity

Proposed:

That this Assembly expresses concern at the deepening crisis in Northern Ireland's wastewater and sewerage infrastructure; notes the Department for Infrastructure's Living with Water Programme in Belfast; highlights the importance of adequate capacity in other parts of Northern Ireland to prevent delays to housebuilding and capital investment in critical facilities such as schools, public offices and factories; notes that addressing the weaknesses of current provision in all areas will be essential to maximising our whole region's economic potential, including through city deals and other key levers; and calls on the Minister for Infrastructure to bring forward a new strategy to enhance and expand Northern Ireland's water and sewerage infrastructure, with a particular focus on ending regional inequalities.
