Assembly Arrangements to Mark The Death Of The Duke Of Edinburgh

Further to his earlier statement, the Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly, Alex Maskey MLA, has this evening confirmed the arrangements for the Assembly to mark the passing of His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh.

The Speaker said, “Having consulted with the Members of the Assembly Commission this afternoon and following a meeting of the Assembly Business Committee this evening, I can confirm that the following arrangements have been agreed for the Assembly to pay its respects on the passing of His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh:

  • The Union flag will fly at half mast from Parliament Buildings until 8am the morning after the funeral, in line with official guidance.
  • The Assembly will meet at 12pm on Monday 12 April for Members to pay tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh, after which the Assembly will adjourn for the remainder of that day. 
  • Business for Tuesday 13 April has also been curtailed with all Private Member’s motions being postponed to the following week.
  • The link to the official on-line Book of Condolences has been posted on the Assembly website.
