The Northern Ireland Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has expressed its sorrow at the death of its esteemed and longest serving member, John Dallat MLA.
William Humphrey, Chairperson of the PAC said, “The Committee extends its deepest condolences to John’s wife, Anne, his family, friends and political colleagues at this sad time.”
“In John’s own words he was the ‘longest serving member’ on the PAC, from its establishment in 1999 to the present day. John devoted a large part of his political career to serving this committee. His sheer determination ensured he left no stone unturned in his quest to protect the public purse.
“On behalf of the Committee, I would like to remember him for the huge contribution he made to the work of the PAC. He will be a great loss not just to the Committee, the SDLP and the Assembly, but also to the people he served for many years.”
