St Pius X College, Magherafelt hosted a meeting of the Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for Education on Wednesday 2 February 2011. The meeting focussed on the Committee’s Inquiry on Successful Post-Primary Schools.

As well as St Pius X College, representatives from two other schools - Ballycastle High School and Oakgrove Integrated College attended the meeting and presented their thoughts to MLAs on what makes their school successful.

Committee Chairperson, Mervyn Storey MLA said: “The Committee is continuing to work through its Inquiry into Successful Post-Primary Schools.

“This is the second Inquiry visit to schools the Committee has undertaken over the past few weeks to hear first hand from different schools about the excellent work they are doing in often challenging circumstances.

“Hearing directly from teachers and young people remains at the heart of our Inquiry adding another dimension to the information we have received and the work we are doing on the Inquiry.”
