The Committee for Infrastructure has announced a call for evidence in relation to the Display of Flags and Emblems Bill, introduced to the Northern Ireland Assembly by Paula Bradshaw MLA.
The Members’ Bill completed its First Stage on 30th June and is scheduled to proceed to Second Stage, where Members will debate its general principles. Subject to Assembly approval, the Bill will then be referred to Committee Stage for detailed scrutiny.
In preparation for this, the Committee is inviting written submissions from individuals and organisations with an interest in the issues raised by the Bill, including its potential implications for public spaces, infrastructure, and community use of the built environment.
The Call for Evidence opened on 9 July 2026 and will close on 16 September 2026.
Speaking on behalf of the Committee, Chairperson Peter Martin MLA said: “The introduction of this Bill highlights the continuing relevance of how shared spaces are managed and experienced across Northern Ireland. The Committee is keen to hear from a wide range of stakeholders to help inform its understanding of the potential impacts of the proposals, particularly where they intersect with public infrastructure.”
The Committee welcomes views on all aspects of the Bill, including its potential operational, legal, and societal implications.
Further information on the Bill, guidance on how to submit evidence, and relevant documentation are available on the Northern Ireland Assembly website.
