The Assembly Finance and Economy Committees held a roundtable discussion event focusing on the impact of the taxation and wage-related measures in the Chancellor’s Autumn Budget Statement on critical industries, including business, community & voluntary sector and social enterprises.
The event took place at NICVA on Wednesday 29th January 2025.
The Finance Committee Chairperson Matthew O’Toole MLA and Economy Committee Chairperson Phillip Brett MLA said: “This roundtable discussion provided an opportunity for Members from both the Assembly Finance and Economy Committees to hear concerns directly from community and voluntary sector stakeholders regarding a wide range of issues.
“We discussed the impact of the Autumn Budget with the proposed increase in National Living, and Minimum Wage rates, increased employer National Insurance contributions and business rates for these critical sectors.
“These changes will have a significant impact on many businesses and community and voluntary sector organisations in Northern Ireland. This collaborative approach underscores both Committees' commitment to ensure that the voices of stakeholders are heard.
“We look forward to working with NICVA and the wider community to highlight the impact these changes will have”.
