Parliament Buildings Gets Ready For 80th Anniversary Festivities

Parliament Buildings will mark its 80th anniversary on Saturday 17 November with a very special open day.

There will be tours of Parliament Buildings, led by actors in period costumes, which will take place throughout the day and will include parts of Parliament Buildings rarely opened to the public, including the Speaker’s Office and the offices of the First Minister and the deputy First Minister.

As part of the celebrations there will be theatrical, musical and dance performances by Foyleview Special School; Ulster Orchestra Brass Quintet; Releasing Rhythms African Drums; Donaghadee Male Voice Choir and the Bellhoppers dance group.

Visitors will also be able to view the photographic exhibition on the construction of the building in the Great Hall. The Long Gallery will be the venue for a demonstration of the crafts that went into the construction and decoration of Parliament Buildings including linen making, stonework, French polishing and floristry.
