Submission from the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission in relation to the Severe Fetal Impairment Abortion (Amendment) Bill

On the 8th March 2021 Ms Paula Bradshaw MLA proposed a motion that 'the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission be asked to advise whether the Severe Fetal Impairment Abortion (Amendment) Bill is compatible with human rights.'

Following the debate, the question was put and the motion was agreed.

As a result the Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly contacted the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission for advice. On 10 May 2021 the Speaker received the response and issued it to all MLAs, along with the following letter to inform them of receipt of the advice:
