This paper provides an overview of the processes carried out by the Irish Government in response to historic institutional abuse in the Republic of Ireland. It summarises those processes already undertaken, ongoing and proposed in relation to Mother and Baby Homes, Magdalen Laundries, Residential Institutional Abuse and Abuse in Religious Schools. This paper contains references to sexual, physical and emotional abuse, including in relation to children.
Summary of International Human Rights Standards’ Concluding Observations on Northern Ireland
