Synopsis: The aim of this briefing is to provide an overview of newcomer pupils in Northern Ireland and the implications of the UK’s exit from the European Union (EU) on the number and profile of newcomer pupils. It considers some of the issues for newcomer pupils in accessing education, with particular consideration of some of the challenges for asylum seeking and refugee children and young people.
