Possible Amendment to the Special Education Needs and Disability Bill

Synopsis: This paper examines the case for a possible Committee for Employment and Learning Amendment to the proposed Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) Bill extending the provision of SEN to young people over the age of 19. The paper outlines the current system of Special Education Needs (SEN) support in Northern Ireland, before considering the systems in place in England, Scotland and Wales. It includes a discussion of the establishing legislation in each jurisdiction.
