3. Briefing from the Minister for Employment and Learning on DEL-related Teacher-Training Issues, Additional Places in Higher Education and the draft Economic Strategy

The Minister and his officials joined the meeting at 10.04 am.

The Committee was briefed by Dr Stephen Farry, Minister for Employment and Learning, Mrs Catherine Bell, Deputy Secretary, and Mr Andrew Hamilton, Deputy Secretary, on DEL-related Teacher Training issues, Additional Places in Higher Education and on the draft Economic Strategy for Northern Ireland and related Action Plans.

10.14 am Ms Michelle Gildernew joined the meeting.

11.56 am Mr Pat Ramsey left the meeting

1.04 pm Mr David McIlveen left the meeting

The briefing was followed by a question and answer session.

The Minister and his officials left the meeting at 1.24 pm

Agreed: The Committee agreed to invite the Principal of Stranmillis University College to provide a briefing.

4. Date, time and place of next meeting

Agreed: The Committee agreed that the next meeting should be held on Wednesday, 11 January 2012, at 10.00 am in the Boardroom, Titanic Quarter campus, Belfast Metropolitan College.

The Chairperson adjourned the meeting at 1.27 pm
