APN 45 - 22/27: Tributes to Her Majesty
Following the passing of Her Majesty The Queen, the Speaker has invited Members to gather in the Assembly Chamber at 12.30 pm on Monday 12 September 2022 in order to pay their tributes and express condolences. The Speaker will lead Members in making these tributes before providing an opportunity for other Members to do so.
Party leaders present will be invited to speak and will have up to five minutes. The Speaker will then call Members to speak briefly (for up to three minutes) in order to give time for as many contributions as possible. All Members (including party leaders) should indicate their wish to speak by rising in their places. The public gallery will be open for building users to observe proceedings and signed interpretation will be available on the Assembly’s website the next day.
After condolences have been expressed, as a mark of respect, there will be a minute’s silence in the Assembly Chamber following which the Speaker will open a ceremonial book of condolences for Members to sign for the historical record. This book will remain open for the day for any Members or building users to sign and will then be closed.
This opportunity for tributes and condolences is not a sitting of the Assembly. It will not therefore commence with Prayers and there will be no order paper.
