November 2021 final status update
Under Section 49A of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA 1995) (as amended by Article 5 of the Disability Discrimination (Northern Ireland) Order 2006), the Northern Ireland Assembly Commission is required to have due regard to:
- the need to promote positive attitudes towards people with disabilities; and
- the need to encourage participation by people with disabilities in public life (‘the disability duties’).
In 2016 the Disability Action Plan 2016-2021 was put in place. This plan has now come to an end. The Disability Action Plan 2016-2021 final six-monthly status update and closure report are now available.
