Defence on Grounds of Reasonableness

Synopsis: This Briefing Note has been prepared of the Committee for Justice in the context of its consideration of the Domestic Abuse and Family Proceedings Bill. Clause 12 of the Bill provides that, in respect of a charge of the domestic abuse offence, it is a defence for a person to show that the course of behaviour was reasonable in the particular circumstances.
