Justice (Sexual Offences and Trafficking Victims) Bill
Committee Stage
The Justice (Sexual Offences and Trafficking Victims) Bill was formally introduced to the Northern Ireland Assembly on 5 July 2021.
The Bill has two core aims:
- To enhance public safety by implementing certain elements of the Report of the Gillen review of serious sexual offence cases and from a review of the law on child sexual exploitation and sexual offences against children
- To improve services for victims of trafficking and exploitation
Given the limited time in which to complete this Bill before the end of the current Assembly mandate, the Committee for Justice has decided to seek written evidence on the Bill in advance of Second Stage which will take place in September 2021 and following which it is anticipated the Bill will be referred to the Committee for scrutiny.
The Call for Evidence is now closed.
