Climate Change (No. 1) Bill
The First Stage of the Climate Change (No.1) Bill was completed on 22 March 2021.
The purpose of the Bill is to enable the mitigation of the impact of climate change in Northern Ireland; establish a legally binding net-zero carbon target for Northern Ireland; provide for the establishment and powers of the Northern Ireland Climate Commissioner and Northern Ireland Climate Office; guarantee existing environmental and climate protections; and for connected purposes.
