Horse Racing (Amendment) Bill

The First Stage of the Horse Racing (Amendment) Bill was completed on 13 April 2021.

The Bill will amend the Horse Racing (Northern Ireland) Order 1990 to allow for payments to be made from the Horse Racing Fund to horse racecourse operators; and for connected purposes.

At its meeting of 15 April 2021 the Committee considered following correspondence from Minister Poots on the proposed Horse Racing (Amendment) Bill.

At its meeting of 22 April 2021 the Committee recieved oral evidence from DAERA officials on the outcome of its consultation and its policy position on the Horse Racing (Amendment) Bill.

The Horse Racing (Amendment) Bill  passed Second Stage on Monday 26 April 2021.

At its meeting of 6 May 2021 the Committee noted the Delegated Powers Memorandum below for the Horse Racing (Amendment) Bill.

At its meeting of 16 June 2021 the Committee received an oral briefing from RaISe on the Horse Racing (Amendment) Bill and agreed a plan for the Committee stage of the bill and as a first step to publish a public call for evidence.
