Agreed: The draft minutes of proceedings of 21 September 2011 was agreed by the Committee.

3. Matters Arising

List of Outstanding Issues

The Committee noted the list of outstanding issues.

4. Correspondence

Committee for the Environment

The Committee considered items of correspondence from the Committee for the Environment in relation to reducing energy use and in relation to the North South Freight Forum .

Agreed: The Committee agreed to forward correspondence from the Committee for committee for the Environment to the Department.

Committee for Health, Social Services and Public Safety

Agreed: The Committee agreed to forward correspondence from the Committee for Health, Social Services and Public Safety regarding music therapy to the Department.

Consular Association of Northern Ireland

The Committee considered correspondence from the Consular Association of Northern Ireland requesting a preliminary meeting to discuss a number of issues.

Agreed: The Committee agreed that the Clerk would initially meet with the Consular Association of Northern Ireland.

Voice of Young People in Care

The Committee considered an invite from the Voice of Young People in Care to attend an event it is holding on Wednesday 26 October. Members agreed to contact the Committee Office if they wished to attend.

North/South Parliamentary Forum

The Committee noted correspondence from the Speaker concerning the meeting of the North/South Parliamentary Forum taking place in Parliament Buildings on Thursday 29 September 2011.

5. October Monitoring Round Proposals

Departmental officials joined the meeting at 3.37 p.m.

Mr Noel Lavery and Mr Colin Jack briefed the Committee on the Department’s October Monitoring Round Proposals. A question and answer session followed.

Departmental officials left the meeting at 4.06 p.m.

7. Any Other Business

Launch of the Consultation on the Social Investment Fund

Agreed: The Committee agreed to write to the First Minister and Acting deputy First Minister to request further information in relation to Monday’s launch of the Department’s consultation on the Social Investment Fund.

8. Date, time and place of next meeting

The next meeting will be in Room 30, Parliament Buildings on Wednesday 5 October 2011 at 2 p.m.
