Our Role

The Assembly makes laws, scrutinises the work of the Executive and represents the views of the public.

It is the prime source of authority in respect of all devolved responsibilities.

The Assembly Commission enables the successful operation of the Assembly by delivering excellent services.

We do this to uphold a peaceful, inclusive and democratic society.

  • Develop and implement a parliamentary excellence programme for Members.
  • Develop and implement an inter-parliamentary and international strategy to support the Assembly.
  • Provide the Assembly with the right information, in the right format, at the right time.
  • Strengthen the scrutiny capacity of the Assembly as recommended by the RHI Inquiry report.
  • Enhance the parliamentary culture of the Assembly.
