Our Role

The Assembly makes laws, scrutinises the work of the Executive and represents the views of the public.

It is the prime source of authority in respect of all devolved responsibilities.

The Assembly Commission enables the successful operation of the Assembly by delivering excellent services.

The Assembly will be empowered to achieve its full potential	Develop and implement a parliamentary excellence programme for Members. Develop and implement an inter-parliamentary and international strategy to support the Assembly. Provide the Assembly with the right information, in the right format, at the right time. Strengthen the scrutiny capacity of the Assembly as recommended by the RHI Inquiry report. Enhance the parliamentary culture of the Assembly.
The public will understand and value the role of the Assembly and be engaged in its work	Develop and implement a public engagement strategy. Make the work of the Assembly more accessible. Deliver an options appraisal for a new visitor and engagement centre. Develop and implement a strategy for communicating the impact of the Assembly. Create more opportunities to engage with Committees.
Our staff will be a motivated, resilient and expert team	Achieve Investors in People (IIP) accreditation and improve against the IIP Framework. Promote a learning environment to support staff in their careers. Enable better organisational resilience to support business need. Ensure decisions are taken at the appropriate level.
