Chris Lyttle MLA

Chris Lyttle is an Alliance Party Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly for East Belfast. He succeeded Naomi Long MP as Alliance Party MLA for East Belfast on July 5 2010 and was elected to serve the constituency for another term on May 7 2011.

Chris is Deputy Chair of the Assembly Committee with responsibility for the scrutiny of the policy of the Office of the First Minister & deputy First Minister. These include the Programme for Government, the Investment Strategy, Community Relations, Social Investment, Equality, Community Development, Children & Young People and Older People - www.ofmdfmni.gov.uk

Chris is also member of the Assembly Employment & Learning Committee, with responsibility for the scrutiny of government policy to promote employability by supporting learning and skills acquisition through community education, further & higher education and entrepreneurism. He was part of the Committee Inquiry that made recommendations to the Government Strategy to help young people not in education, training or employment - www.delni.gov.uk

He is also a member of the Assembly Working Groups on Autism, Learning Disability and International Development.
Chris was born and raised in East Belfast and believes in providing the people of this great constituency with the standard of leadership and representation they deserve.

Education
He was educated at Belmont and Strandtown Primary Schools, Sullivan, and Queen's University Belfast where he received a First Class Honours Degree in Government & Politics. Chris was also awarded a Helen Ramsey Turtle Scholarship for Conflict Management study at the University of California and a Frank Knox Fellowship for postgraduate training in Public Policy & Administration at Harvard University.

Experience
Chris's professional experience includes work as Northern Ireland Assembly Constituency & Research Assistant to Alliance Party Deputy Leader, Naomi Long. He is known for his dedicated service to constituents, community organisations, business owners and other groups on a wide range of issues such as; housing, education, health, planning, employment and community safety.
Chris has also served as Deputy Chair of the East Belfast District Policing Partnership, is a qualified Irish Football Association UEFA B License and Disability Football Coach, and, active member of his local church.

Vision
His vision is for a united community, strong economy and sustainable environment in East Belfast.
