Assembly Committee to Reveive Emergency Briefing on Schmallenberg Virus

The Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for Agriculture and Rural Development will receive an emergency briefing today, Tuesday 28 February, on the Schmallenberg virus.  The disease, which affects sheep and new born lambs in particular, has no known cure or vaccine. 

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has issued an alert to local farmers on the disease.

The briefing by Departmental Officials will take place at approximately 2.15pm today in Room 30, Parliament Buildings.  The meeting will be streamed live via the Assembly website: http://www.niassembly.gov.uk/Assembly-Business/Live-Coverage/
