Motion: Bonfire Regulation
Proposed:
That this Assembly notes that this summer has again seen illegal and unregulated bonfires on contaminated land, placed dangerously close to hospitals, and used as platforms for racist and sectarian displays; further notes that the Commission on Flags, Identity, Culture and Tradition report set out a framework to regulate bonfires including limits on the materials that can be used, the distance that bonfires can be placed from physical structures and the prevention of flags, emblems and election posters being displayed and burnt; and calls for the implementation of the Commission's recommendations to put in place bonfire regulations that prevents threats to public safety, pollution to the environment and attempts to spread hate.

'recognises the cultural importance of bonfires, particularly in the unionist community; believes that issues around bonfires can only be resolved with local community buy-in; notes the recent LucidTalk poll conducted in August 2025, which indicates that only 18 per cent of unionist respondents support the establishment of a regulatory commission for bonfires and flags and does not believe that another quango is required.'

'condemns the construction of bonfires built on sites near or containing asbestos; calls for the implementation of the Commission's recommendations to put in place bonfire regulations that prevents threats to public safety, pollution to the environment and attempts to spread hate; and further calls on the Executive to establish a taskforce group comprised of appropriate health officials and other relevant agencies, to identify any possible negative health impacts resulting from this summer's bonfire on the Donegall Road on working class communities.'

Motion: Sectarian and Racist Intimidation from Homes
Proposed:
That this Assembly condemns all sectarian and racist attacks on individuals and their homes; recognises the need for elected representatives to speak clearly and unequivocally on behalf of the victims and to be responsible in the language they use in the aftermath of such attacks; expresses frustration at the ongoing delay by the Executive Office to bring forward a refreshed Good Relations Strategy as a successor to Together: Building a United Community to address sectarianism and racism through a whole-community approach; acknowledges that there is a housing crisis which requires urgent cross-departmental interventions to remove barriers to building more social and affordable homes; and calls on the Minister for Communities to outline what specific action his Department is undertaking to focus resources to deliver housing for all, based on the Community Safety Framework designed to protect people being targeted in their own homes.

'condemns the disparity of treatment between those expressing support for proscribed paramilitary organisations and those expressing support for Palestine Action; acknowledges that there is a housing crisis which requires urgent cross-departmental interventions to remove barriers to building more social and affordable homes; calls on the Minister for Communities to outline what specific action his Department is undertaking to focus resources to deliver housing for all, based on the Community Safety Framework designed to protect people being targeted in their own homes; and further calls on the Minister to reform and re-introduce intimidation points for all who have intimidated from their homes.'
