Amend the definition of threatened with homelessness in the Housing (Northern Ireland) Order 1988.

Be it enacted by being passed by the Northern Ireland Assembly and assented to by His Majesty as follows:

Definition of threatened with homelessness

1. In Article 3(6) of the Housing (Northern Ireland) Order 1988 (definition of threatened with homelessness) for “will become homeless within 28 days” substitute “will become homeless within 60 days”.

Commencement

2. This Act comes into operation at the end of the period of 6 months after the date this Act receives Royal Assent.

Short title

3. This Act may be cited as the Housing (Amendment) Act (Northern Ireland) 2026.
