The Committee is notified by the UK Government of a proposed new or amending/replacement EU act, which falls within the scope of the Stormont Brake.
The Committee may monitor the progress of the proposed EU act and publish an interim report.
The Committee may hold an inquiry.
The EU publishes an amending/replacement act. The scrutiny period of two months now begins.
The Committee is notified by the UK Government of a published amending/replacement EU act, which falls within the scope of the Stormont Brake.
Within five working days, the Committee decides whether to hold (or continue) an inquiry.
The Committee must publish its decision.
If it decides to hold an inquiry:
- The Committee engages with UK Government, NI Executive departments/Ministers, and relevant stakeholders.
- No later than 15 working days before the end of the scrutiny period, the Committee must publish a report on the conclusions of the inquiry.
