School Uniforms (Guidelines and Allowances) Bill
The School Uniforms (Guidelines and Allowances) Bill was formally introduced by the Minister of Education on Tuesday 18 February 2025. The Bill completed its Second Stage on Monday 3 March 2025 and was referred to the Committee for Education for scrutiny (the Committee Stage of the Bill).
Call for Evidence
As part of the Assembly’s legislative processes, the School Uniforms (Guidelines and Allowances) Bill has been referred to the Assembly’s Committee for Education so that the Committee can consider and take evidence on the Bill and report its opinion to the Assembly.
In order to inform the Committee Stage of the Bill, the Committee for Education is seeking views from stakeholders on the objectives, proposals and potential consequences of the Bill and would welcome your views/comments on the contents of the Bill.
The closing date for comments is Tuesday 13 May 2025.

Long title of the Bill
A Bill to make provision for binding guidelines on school uniform policies to be issued by the Department of Education and to extend eligibility for school clothing allowances payable by the Education Authority.
