1 Apologies
1.1 Apologies were received from Claire Sugden, Colin McGrath, David Brooks, Philip McGuigan, Nuala Mc Allister and Patsy McGlone
2 Minutes of previous meeting
2.1 The minutes of the meeting on 3 June 2025 were agreed.
3 Matters Arising
3.1 There were no matters arising.
4 Order Papers and Indicative Timings for week commencing 16 June
Monday 16 June
4.1 Members noted that Question Time would be for the Minister of Education and the Minister of Finance.
4.2 Members noted that an additional two items of Executive business had been scheduled:
• First Stage of the Inquiry (Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries and Workhouses) and Redress Scheme Bill; and
• A Legislative Consent Motion for the Product Regulation and Metrology Bill.
4.3 The Committee agreed to schedule both items as untimed.
4.4 Members noted that First Stage of the Bill would be included on Indicative Timings when the Speaker had confirmed that the Bill was within competence.
4.5 Members noted that all other business remained as scheduled at the last meeting.
4.6 The junior Minister advised of a possible statement from the Minister of Justice on this date.
4.7 The Committee agreed the Order Paper for Monday 16 June.
Tuesday 17 June
4.8 Members noted that Question Time was scheduled for the Minister of Health.
4.9 Members noted that an additional item of Executive business had been scheduled: First Stage of the Adult Protection Bill.
4.10 Members noted that First Stage of the Bill would be included on Indicative Timings when the Speaker had confirmed that the Bill was within competence.
4.11 Members noted that all other business remained as scheduled at the last meeting.
4.12 The junior Minister advised that no other business was expected.
4.13 The Committee agreed the Order Paper for Tuesday 17 June.
5 Provisional Order Papers and Indicative Timings for week commencing 23 June
Monday 23 June
5.1 Members noted that Question Time would be for the Executive Office and Minister for Infrastructure.
5.2 Members noted that the following five bill introductions had been scheduled:
• Water, Sustainable Drainage and Flood Management Bill;
• Northern Ireland Fiscal Council Bill;
• Administrative and Finance Provisions Bill;
• Insolvency (Amendment) Bill; and
• Dilapidation Bill.
5.3 Members noted that these would be included on Indicative Timings when legislative competence had been confirmed.
5.4 The Committee agreed to schedule an untimed debate to consider the draft Human Medicines (Amendments Relating to Hub and Spoke Dispensing etc) Regulations 2025.
5.5 The Committee agreed to schedule an untimed debate to consider a Legislative Consent Motion for the Crime and Policing Bill.
5.6 The Committee agreed to schedule an untimed debate to consider a Legislative Consent Motion for the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Bill.
5.7 The Committee agreed to schedule Members’ Statements at the beginning of the sitting.
5.8 The Committee agreed to reschedule the UUP Private Members’ motion on Improving Sentencing Practices in Northern Ireland.
5.9 The junior Minister advised that a statement from the Minister of Finance may be scheduled on this date.
5.10 The Committee agreed the Provisional Order Paper for Monday 23 June.
Tuesday 24 June
5.11 Members noted that Question Time was scheduled for the Minister of Justice and the Assembly Commission.
5.12 Members noted that four items of Executive business had been scheduled for this date, as follows:
• Second Stage of the Inquiry (Mother and Baby Institutions, Magdalene Laundries and Workhouses) and Redress Scheme Bill;
• The Legal Complaints and Regulation (Penalty) Order (Northern Ireland) 2025;
• The Legal Complaints and Regulation Act (Northern Ireland) 2016 (Appeals) Regulations 2025; and
• The Legal Complaints and Regulation Act (Northern Ireland) 2016 (Levy) Regulations 2025
5.13 The Committee agreed to schedule untimed debates for all items of business, including a single untimed debate for the legal complaints SRs.
5.14 The junior Minister advised that a statement from the Minister for Infrastructure may be scheduled on this date.
5.15 The Committee agreed to schedule Members’ Statements at the beginning of the sitting.
5.16 The Committee agreed to schedule a Private Members motion for Sinn Féin, and consented for the motion to be submitted to the Business Office by the end of the working day.
5.17 The Committee agreed to reschedule the UUP adjournment debate on Access to Justice and Legal Services in Fermanagh and South Tyrone.
5.18 The Committee agreed the Provisional Order Paper for Tuesday 24 June.
6 Any Other Business
6.1 There was no other business.
7 Date and Time of Next Meeting
7.1 The Speaker advised that the next meeting would take place in Room 106 during the lunchtime suspension on Tuesday 17 June.
