1 Introduction

1.1 The Speaker thanked Members for attending the meeting, which was called as a valid notice had been received, under Standing Order 11, from more than 30 Members seeking a meeting of the Assembly.

2 Apologies

2.1 Apologies were received from Patsy McGlone and Philip McGuigan.

3 Order Papers and Indicative Timings

3.1 The Speaker invited the Clerk of Business to summarise the arrangements for the sitting which had been scheduled for Thursday 8 August.

3.2 Members noted that one and a half hours had been allocated to the debate, and that the usual speaking times would apply.

3.3 Members noted that an amendment to the motion had been received and that others may be submitted.

3.4 A Member asked when they would be notified of the Speaker’s decisions on amendments to the motion, and was informed that the deadline for receipt of amendments was 9.30am on Thursday 8 August after which a meeting would be arranged for the Speaker to consider the amendments received and decide if they would be accepted.

3.5 The Committee agreed the Order Paper and timings for Thursday 8 August 2024.

The Speaker brought the meeting to a close at 10.34am.
