1 Apologies
1.1 Apologies were received from Claire Sugden and Nuala McAllister.
2 Minutes of previous meeting
2.1 The minutes of the meeting on 28 May 2024 were agreed.
3 Matters Arising
3.1 There were no matters arising.
4 Order Papers and Indicative Timings for week commencing 10 June
Monday 10 June
4.1 Members noted that the Consideration Stage of the Defective Premises Bill was no longer scheduled on this date, but all other business remained as scheduled at the last meeting.
4.2 The junior Minister advised that a statement from the Minister of Finance was anticipated.
4.3 The Committee agreed the Order Paper for Monday 10 June.
Tuesday 11 June
4.4 Members noted that Consideration Stage of the Defective Premises Bill had been rescheduled for this date, but all other business remained as scheduled at the last meeting.
4.5 The Committee agreed that any debate on the Bill would be untimed.
4.6 The junior Minister advised that statements from the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs and Minister for Communities were expected for this date.
4.7 The Committee agreed the Order Paper for Tuesday 11 June.
5 Provisional Order Papers and Indicative Timings for week commencing 17 June
Monday 17 June
5.1 Members noted that Question Time would be for Minister of Justice and Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs.
5.2 Members noted that three items of Executive Business had been requested for this date, as follows:
• First Stage of the Child Support Enforcement Bill
• The draft Damages (Process for Setting Rate of Return) Regulations
• The draft Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (Search, Recovery of Cryptoassets and Investigations: Codes of Practice) Regulations
5.3 Members noted that first stages of Bills do not appear on an order paper but are added to indicative timings once legislative competence has been confirmed.
5.4 The Committee agreed to schedule untimed debates for the draft statutory rules.
5.5 The junior Minister advised that no other business was expected.
5.6 The Committee agreed to schedule Members’ Statements at the beginning of the sitting.
5.7 The Committee agreed to schedule Private Members’ motions for DUP and Sinn Féin with the usual timings.
5.8 The following Private Members’ motions were selected:
• Promoting On Farm Investment (DUP)
• All-Island Cancer Research Co-operation (SF)
5.9 The Committee agreed the Provisional Order Paper for Monday 17 June.
Tuesday 18 June
5.10 Members noted that 18 June had been scheduled as an Opposition day and were content that opposition business would be given priority.
5.11 Members noted that Question Time was scheduled for the Minister for Communities.
5.12 Members noted that one item of Executive Business; Further Consideration Stage of the Defective Premises Bill, had been scheduled.
5.13 The Committee agreed to schedule an untimed debate which would take place after opposition business had concluded.
5.14 The junior Minister advised that no other business was expected.
5.15 The Committee agreed to schedule Members’ Statements.
5.16 The opposition representative requested 1.5 hours for the following two motions:
• Dual Market Access
• Cross-border Healthcare
5.17 The opposition representative requested 1 hour for a motion on All-Ireland Tourism.
5.18 The Committee agreed to schedule the motions with the requested timings and usual speaking times.
5.19 The Committee agreed to defer scheduling an adjournment debate.
5.20 The Committee agreed the Provisional Order Paper for Tuesday 18 June.
6 Any Other Business
6.1 There was no other business.
7 Date and Time of Next Meeting
7.1 The Speaker advised that the next meeting would take place at 1pm on Tuesday 11 June.
