1 Apologies

1.1 Apologies were received from Nuala McAllister.

2 Minutes of previous meeting

2.1 The minutes of the meeting on 4 June 2024 were agreed.

3 Matters Arising

3.1 There were no matters arising.

4 Order Papers and Indicative Timings for week commencing 17 June

Monday 17 June

4.1 The Committee agreed to schedule a Public Petition for Mr McCrossan.

4.2 The Committee agreed to schedule a Committee Membership motion for the UUP.

4.3 Members noted that a statutory rule from the Justice Minister had been deferred until a future date, but all other business remained as scheduled at the last meeting.

4.4 Members noted that First Stage of the Child Support Enforcement Bill would be added to Indicative Timings once legislative competence had been confirmed.

4.5 The junior Minister advised that no other business was currently expected.

4.6 The Committee agreed the Order Paper for Monday 17 June.


Tuesday 18 June

4.7 Members noted that this would be the last opposition day of the session and that all business remained as scheduled at the last meeting.

4.8 The junior Minister advised that no other business was currently expected.

4.9 The Committee agreed the Order Paper for Tuesday 18 June.

 

5 Provisional Order Papers and Indicative Timings for week commencing 24 June

Monday 24 June

5.1 Members noted that Question Time would be for the Executive Office and the Minister for the Economy.

5.2 Members noted that two items of Executive Business had been requested for this date, as follows:

• A motion to approve the draft Fisheries Act 2020 (Scheme for Financial Assistance) Regulations; and
• A motion to approve the Local Government (Remote Meetings) Regulations

5.3 The Committee agreed to schedule untimed debates for both items of business.

5.4 The junior Minister advised that no other business was currently expected.

5.5 The Committee agreed to schedule Members’ Statements at the beginning of the sitting.

5.6 The Committee agreed to schedule a Private Members’ motion for the SDLP with the usual timings.

5.7 The SDLP representative indicated that the party wished to schedule a motion on social housing numbers but sought the Committee’s consent to provide the full text of the motion by 5pm that day.

5.8 The Committee agreed that the wording of the SDLP motion would be provided by 5pm for inclusion on the Provisional Order Paper.

5.9 The junior Minister confirmed that the Communities Minister would be available to respond.

5.10 The Committee agreed the Provisional Order Paper for Monday 24 June.


Tuesday 25 June

5.11 Members noted that Question Time was scheduled for the Minister of Education and the Assembly Commission.

5.12 Members noted that six items of Executive Business had been scheduled, as follows:
• A motion to approve the draft Working Time (Amendment) Regulations;
• A motion to approve the draft Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (Search, Recovery of Cryptoassets and Investigations: Codes of Practice) Regulations;
• Second Stage of the Child Support Enforcement Bill;
• Two motions to approve Social Security Benefits Up-rating statutory rules for which the Communities Minister requested a single debate; and
• A motion to approve the Mesothelioma Lump Sum Payments (Conditions and Amounts) (Amendment) Regulations.

5.13 The Committee agreed to schedule untimed debates for each of these items and for the two social security rules to be considered in a single debate.

5.14 The junior Minister advised that two statements from the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs may be scheduled for this date.

5.15 The Committee agreed to schedule Members’ Statements.

5.16 The Committee agreed to schedule the following adjournment debate for the UUP:

• Traffic Chaos Affecting Villages in Lagan Valley

5.17 The Committee agreed the Provisional Order Paper for Tuesday 25 June.
