Agreed: The minutes of the last meeting were agreed.

4. NI Water

Correspondence from King & Gowdy Solicitors

The Committee noted correspondence from King & Gowdy Solicitors acting on behalf of Mr Laurence MacKenzie the former Chief Executive of NI Water requesting an advance copy of the Committee’s forthcoming report.

12:11 pm Mr Campbell and Mr McGlone entered the meeting.

The Committee was briefed by the Clerk on established practice for the distribution of Committee reports.

Agreed: the Committee agreed not to depart from this practice; and to respond to the author of the letter.

Correspondence from Deloitte

The Committee noted correspondence from Ms Jackie Henry, Associate Partner, Deloitte MCS Limited requesting that following the media coverage surrounding the leaked draft report the opportunity to review the Committee’s draft report.

12:21 pm Mr Irwin entered the meeting.

Agreed: The Committee agreed the terms of a response to issue to Ms Henry.

12:28 pm Mr Lunn and Mr McGlone left the meeting.

5. Issues arising from the oral evidence session on the NIAO report on ‘Improving Adult Literacy and Numeracy’

The Committee considered an issues paper from the oral evidence session on ‘Improving Adult Literacy and Numeracy’.

6. Press Release – Report on ‘The Arrangement for Ensuring the Quality of Care in Homes for Older People’

Members considered the draft press release regarding the Committee’s forthcoming report on ‘The Arrangements for Ensuring the Quality of Care in Homes for Older People’.

Agreed: The Committee agreed to issue the press release to coincide with the launch of the Committee’s report.

Agreed: The Committee agreed to have a media pre-brief for the launch subject to members’ availability.

9. Date, time and place of next meeting

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, 24 February 2011 at 2:00 pm in Room 29, Parliament Buildings.
