The meeting opened at 10.40am in public session.

1. Consideration of Draft Budget

The following representatives from the Arts Council joined the meeting at 10.40am:

The representatives briefed the Committee on the impact of the Draft Budget on the arts. This was followed by a question and answer session.
Mr McNarry joined the meeting at 11.15am

The following representatives from Sport NI joined the meeting at 11.10am:
Professor Eric Saunders
Professor Eamonn McCartan
Mr Shaun Ogle
Mr Nick Harkness

The representatives briefed the Committee on the impact of the Draft Budget on sport. This was followed by a question and answer session.

Agreed – the Committee agreed to include a number of the issues raised by the representatives from the Arts Council and Sport NI in the Committee’s response to the Draft Budget.

2. Any Other Business

Agreed – the Committee agreed to receive a briefing from HOK, the architects responsible for the design of the proposed multi sports stadium at the Committee’s meeting of 13 December 2007.

Agreed – the Committee agreed to request a copy of the transcript of the oral evidence taken from departmental officials at the Committee’s meeting of 22 November 2007 regarding the Northern Ireland Events Company.

3. Date and time of next meeting

Agreed: The Committee agreed to hold its next meeting on Thursday 29 November 2007 at 10.00am in Room 152, Parliament Buildings.

The Chairperson adjourned the meeting at 12.25pm.
